Do you need a permit to close a New City street for a block party?
New City is a hamlet, so street closures go to the Town of Clarkstown, not a village. The Clarkstown Highway Department reviews road closing permits for block parties, parades and construction detours. The packet includes a closing notice, proof of insurance and a hold harmless agreement.
- After approval, the town notifies police, the school district and other offices.
- Ask the Highway Department how far ahead to file; plan on several weeks.
- Units can stand on a driveway at the edge of the closed block.

Where should a unit go during a New City pool installation?
Pool builds in New City's split-level and colonial neighborhoods tie up the backyard for weeks. Put the unit near the driveway, away from the excavator's path and the soil pile. The service truck needs firm ground within about 25 feet, so keep that spot clear of materials.
- Book a standard unit with weekly service for the build.
- Move the unit before the patio crew arrives if it blocks them.
- A handwashing station helps crews mixing concrete or handling chemicals.
What does a backyard graduation party in New City need?
New City graduation parties often host 60 to 150 guests over an afternoon and evening. Plan on a unit near the patio and a second near the parking side for larger crowds. A flushing unit with a sink feels closer to an indoor bathroom for older guests.
- Friday drop and Monday pickup keep the unit out of the way during the party.
- A wheelchair-accessible unit helps grandparents with walkers.
- Light the path if the party runs past sunset.

New City porta potty questions
Is New City handled by a village or the town?
New City is an unincorporated hamlet in the Town of Clarkstown. Street closings and road questions go to the Clarkstown Highway Department. Building permits go to the town as well. If you live in a nearby village, such as New Hempstead, that village handles its own permits instead.
Can you deliver near the county courthouse area in New City?
We deliver to private lots and businesses near the Rockland County offices in New City. Public parking lots and county property need the owner's approval first. Show us the exact spot and who has said yes, and we will plan the drop.
Do lake houses near Lake DeForest need special placement?
Lots near Lake DeForest and Congers Lake can have soft, wet ground. Pick a dry, firm spot near the driveway so the truck does not sink. Tell us about any slope toward the water, because the unit must sit level.
How many units for a 100-guest party in New City?
A 100-guest party running about four to five hours is usually covered by two standard units, or one flushing unit plus one standard unit. Add a handwashing station if food is served. Call and we will size it to your guest list and timing.
