How many porta potties does a construction site need?

A construction site with 20 or fewer workers needs at least 1 toilet under OSHA's Table D-1. Sites with 20 or more workers need 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal for every 40 workers. Sites with 200 or more need 1 seat and 1 urinal for every 50 workers.

Source: OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c)(1), Table D-1. A standard porta potty has one seat and one urinal. This is the legal minimum; we recommend 1 unit per 10 workers for weekly service.

What does weekly job site service include?

Weekly job site service includes pumping the waste tank, scrubbing the seat, urinal, walls and floor, adding fresh blue deodorizer, and restocking toilet paper and hand sanitizer. The driver also checks the door, lock and vent. Busy sites with 15 or more workers per unit can add a second weekly service.

  • Service day is set when you book and stays the same each week.
  • Locked units need the combination on your order.
  • Extra visits after a concrete pour or a big inspection day can be added by phone.

Step by step: how porta potty cleaning works.

How does 28-day job site billing work?

Job site porta potties bill every 28 days, not by calendar month. The first invoice includes the one-time delivery charge, and later cycles are the base rate only. Billing renews on the card on file until you call to schedule pickup. Units are never removed without your call.

  • Pickup is billed once, when the unit leaves.
  • Need it for 5 weeks? That is one full cycle plus part of a second.
  • Companies can ask about invoicing and purchase orders after the first rentals.

Where should a porta potty go on a job site?

A job site porta potty should sit on firm, level ground near the work area but within about 25 feet of where our service truck can park. Keep it away from crane swing paths, trenches and material drop zones. In Yonkers and NYC, a unit on the street or sidewalk may need a city permit.

  • Face the door away from the street for privacy.
  • Stake or strap units on windy upper lots and open ridgelines.
  • Road and utility crews can rent towable units on a trailer that moves with the crew.

Do you need a handwashing station on a construction site?

OSHA rule 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities when workers handle paints, coatings, herbicides or other harmful contaminants. Plan 1 handwashing station for every 4 or 5 porta potties. Roofers, painters, demo crews and masons are the trades most likely to need one.

Questions renters ask

Can you deliver to a job site that has no address yet?

We deliver to new lots without an address. Text or email a dropped map pin or GPS coordinates, plus the nearest cross street. Mark the spot on site with a stake, cone or paint.

What if we finish the job early?

Call us to schedule pickup as soon as the job wraps. Billing stops at pickup and the current 28-day cycle is not prorated. Calling a day ahead keeps the unit from sitting on site into a new cycle.

Can we lock the porta potty at night?

Job site units take a padlock on the outside hasp. Use your own combination lock and put the code on the order so the driver can service the unit on schedule.

We're a roofing crew on a house. Does the homeowner need to do anything?

The homeowner only needs to agree on a spot, usually the driveway edge or side yard. The unit keeps the crew out of the house. We pick it up the day the job ends.

Do you rent porta potties for high-rise and apartment builds?

We supply units for mid-rise and high-rise builds in Yonkers, the Bronx and Westchester downtowns. Ground-level units sit inside the fenced site near the gate. Tell us the floor count and crew size so we can plan units and service.

Can I get a written quote for my project manager?

We email a written, itemized quote with unit count, service schedule, delivery and pickup. Your PM can approve it and reply, or call to book.
